Terms of Service

This date changes only when these Terms are actually reviewed or modified — it is not calculated from the current date.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern the use of the Highlands Forward Event Check-In system ("the System"), operated by Highlands Community Charter and Technical Schools ("HCCTS," "we," "us," or "our"). By using the System, you agree to these Terms.

Intended use

The System is intended solely for internal HCCTS use: recording and managing staff attendance at HCCTS-sponsored events. It is not intended for use by members of the public, students, or any party outside of authorized HCCTS staff and administrators.

Authorized use

Access to the public check-in page is limited to staff members checking themselves into events they are attending. Access to the administrative areas of the System is limited to individuals who have been authorized by HCCTS and provided with administrative credentials.

Your responsibilities

• Provide accurate check-in information and only check yourself into events you are actually attending.
• Do not check in on behalf of another staff member or impersonate another person.
• Keep any administrative credentials confidential and do not share them with unauthorized individuals.
• Do not attempt to access parts of the System you are not authorized to use.

Prohibited use

You may not use the System to:

• Impersonate another staff member or submit false attendance information;
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to administrative functions, data, or accounts;
• Use automated tools, scripts, or bots to submit check-ins, probe the System, or attempt to overwhelm it with requests;
• Interfere with or disrupt the System's normal operation.

Administrative authority

HCCTS administrators may correct, void, or annotate attendance records as necessary to maintain accurate records, consistent with the System's audit-logging practices. Corrections are retained in the audit history rather than being permanently erased.

Availability

The System is provided on an as-available basis. HCCTS does not guarantee that the System will be available at all times, free from interruption, or free from errors, and reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the System, in whole or in part, at any time.

Third-party service providers

The System relies on third-party service providers, including Coda (for data storage) and Netlify (for hosting), to operate. HCCTS is not responsible for outages or issues originating from these third-party providers, though we will make reasonable efforts to address any resulting disruption.

Intellectual property

The Highlands Forward name, associated marks, and the design of the System are the property of HCCTS. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use HCCTS trademarks or branding outside of your authorized use of the System.

Disclaimer of warranties

The System is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The System is an attendance-tracking tool and is not a payroll-grade or legally certified timekeeping system.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, HCCTS shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the System.

Suspension of access

HCCTS may suspend or revoke access to the System, including administrative access, at any time, for any reason, including suspected misuse or violation of these Terms.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when changes are made. Continued use of the System after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
